Losing Weight While Pregnant: How I Did It

This post will reveal my story of how I went from gaining 20 pounds in my first pregnancy to having just given birth to my 3rd child Ginger, while still packing a flat stomach. It’s going to include all the up’s, the down’s and finally the one solution that helped me stay a hot mommy while having three wonderful children.

The first time I was pregnant, I was only 23 years old and had never thought that I would gain any weight. Up until now I was pretty fit and could eat practically anything that I wanted and not put on weight. However this didn’t turn out to be the case, and over the course of the pregnancy I put on 20 pounds of ugly unwanted fat. I was really disappointed that I couldn’t lose weight while pregnant.

No matter what I had tried, I wasn’t able to get rid of the fat. It was humiliating. I felt really down and it was effecting my self confidence. I honestly felt that my husband wasn’t attracted to me.

But through hard work and strict diets, I struggled but finally got rid of the weight. It was difficult but I did succeed at losing weight while breastfeeding.

I wanted more children and was determined to make sure that second time around I didn’t put on any weight. But I didn’t want to struggle and cause harm to the baby so I went about researching for ways to remain fit while pregnant. I was determined to find out is it safe to lose weight while pregnant, and whether you can lose weight fast.

I searched and I searched but I just wasn’t able to find any information on losing weight while pregnant. But I didn’t give up, I kept at it. I went on searching for the answer to ‘can I lose weight while pregnant.’

One night as I was searching Google (as you do) I came across a site that claimed to help women with losing weight while pregnant. The testimonials were amazing (seriously check them out). There were stories of women giving birth while at the same time being in the best shape of their lives. Thank goodness that I did, because the guide was amazing. I literally spent the whole night reading the book, from cover to cover. How To Lose Weight While Pregnant

There are many women out there that are wanting to have nice healthy babies but at the same time don’t want to gain any of the ugly fat that most women put on when they get pregnant. Most women worry that if they try to go on any exercise or diet regimen then they will increase the risks of losing their baby. You may be even more worried about putting on weight if you’re already overweight prior to being pregnant, and so may be wondering if it is safe to lose weight while pregnant.

Well the simple answer to this question is yes you can lose weight while pregnant but only if you go about it in the right way. You should make sure that you keep in regular contact with you doctor to keep an eye on both your health and that of the babies. Don’t be worried about weight gain and definitely don’t let it occupy your thoughts all the time. Also make sure to tell your doctor of your plans so that they can give you advise that is personal for you. If you go on any kind of lose weight fast program not only can you cause damage to your unborn baby but you could also be causing serious risk to yourself.

Once you have got the green light from your doctor that its safe for your to workout then you can properly address how the issue of losing weight fast while you are pregnant. One of the simplest and safest ways you can safely lose weight while pregnant is to begin a weekly routine. There should be not stress involved and the plan should be as simple as possible to follow.

A great example of a simple workout plan that you can use for losing weight after pregnancy is to walk on a treadmill, any kind of even flat surface will do or even on a slight incline if you feel up to it. You can walk for about 45 minutes to an hour, but make sure you’re not pushing yourself too hard. You can do this four or fives days out of the week and while doing so you should keep an eye on your core temperature, as you don’t want it getting too high.Your internal core temperature shouldn’t exceed 101 degrees F. Just because you are hot and sweating doesn’t necessarily mean that you body temperature has risen too much.

Along with this simple gentle walking you can include a simple and light workout using light weights to keep yourself toned and keep your strength up. These little strength training workouts should be done on those days that you aren’t walking. You can alternate between upper and lower body as you see fit.

Please keep in mind that you shouldn’t freak out if you put on a little weight while you’re pregnant as this is perfectly normal and something that’s supposed to happen! Some women are completely freaked out not wanting to get pregnant because they fear they will get huge. You definitely don’t want to be obsessing over weight loss while you’re pregnant as you are going to cause unnecessary stress which is going to be no good for the health of your baby.

So keeping fit and lean while you’re pregnant is quite simple and easy and something that shouldn’t obsess over too much. Just eat right and exercise now and again and you will find your figure will stay trim throughout the pregnancy.

Is It Safe To Lose Weight Weight While Pregnant?

The simple answer to losing weight while pregnant is ‘Yes’ it is safe to lose weight while pregnant! However that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take precautions and make sure the intensity of your workouts are not too extreme. Because however important your goal at losing weight quickly is you must take into consideration the health of your baby.

In order to lose weight fast, even as quick as losing weight in 2 weeks you must make sure that you go to your doctor to get a full health check up done for you and your baby. Tell him/her of your intentions to keep your weight off during the pregnancy.

Only once the doctor gives you the go ahead, make sure that you do NOT follow any crappy fad diets that will deprive of you of the ESSENTIAL nutrients you are going to need. Make sure that you spend your time educating yourself on the foods that you should be eating, and then make sure that you eat those foods (lean meats, lots and lots of vegetables etc). Then only eat when you are hungry.

Its very simple, easy and healthy to lose weight like this and you are going to find it hard NOT losing weight while pregnant.

When you are choosing which foods you should fill your grocery cart with, make sure that you question yourself ‘can I lose weight while pregnant eating this item?’ If the answer is no then you know you need to put that back on the shelf.

In terms of exercise make sure that you take it easy at first and slowly increase your pace. Do NOT try to pack in insane amounts of exercise quickly, this will only cause you to hurt yourself! Not something you want to do if you are looking at losing weight while pregnant.

However no matter how determined you are to lose weight while pregnant, never forget that your focus should be remain healthy and to fill your body with fresh nourishing foods :)

No matter what you try to do, you are going to find yourself gaining weight during pregnancy. However you can definitely control how much weight you gain simply by following these 3 steps. Losing weight while pregnant doesn’t have to be a chore!

Losing weight while pregnant, Tip 1: Keep Cravings on Check

From my personal experience, I can say that Cravings during pregnancy is something that is the hardest to deal with. It is also the one thing that can lead to massive weight gain. We’ve all been there, waking up in the middle of the night craving for that small piece of chocolate, or ice cream. However no matter how strong these cravings are you must control them. The simplest and what I have found the most effective way to do this which results in you losing weight fast is to eat Low GI foods.

These foods are great at balancing your blood sugar levels and they also release their energy slowly. This can really help you to lose weight while pregnant.

Losing weight while pregnant, Tip 2: Eat Smaller Meals Regularly

Thats right I am telling you to Eat More! Now you may think that I am crazy, but eating 6 smaller meals a day instead of the usual 3 is really going to help you keep full at all times and therefore prevent you from eating any crappy foods.

Also by eating smaller meals throughout the day you are going to be keeping both your metabolism and blood sugar levels at a consistent level. This is going to keep you energized and upbeat throughout the day :)

Call me crazy but this really works wonders with losing weight before and losing weight after pregnancy!

Losing weight while pregnant, Tip 3: Exercise Little But Regularly

There are many benefits of exercising while you are pregnant. If you are wondering if it is safe to lose weight while pregnant with exercise then fear not. Because there is absolutely no risk when you do it in moderation.

Actually I found that exercising while pregnant not only helps you lose weight fast but also helps with reducing the aches and pains normally associated with weight gain. I also found that you have a lot more energy, it keeps you in a bouncy mood all day.

I personally found walking and swimming the easiest and most fun way at losing weight whole pregnant, and even at losing weight while breastfeeding.

Of course you should check with your doctor in regards to the intensity of your workouts while you are trying at losing weight while pregnant. Depending on whether or not you exercised before your pregnancy is going impact the intensity with which you will workout.
